Altair SimLab is a Windows-based software application from Altair Engineering. It[SQ]s a
visualization and post-processing tool
primarily used for reviewing and analyzing simulation results from various engineering disciplines. It doesn[SQ]t perform simulations itself; instead, it takes the output files (like .odb, .res, etc.) from simulations performed in other Altair products (like HyperWorks, OptiStruct, Radioss, etc.) or other CAE software and allows users to :
* Visualize results:
Display results graphically in 3D, including stress, strain, displacement, temperature, and other relevant parameters. This often involves creating contour plots, vector plots, animations, and other visual representations.
* Post-processing:
Perform analysis on the simulation results, such as calculating minimum/maximum values, averaging, creating cross-sections, and extracting data for further analysis in other tools.
* Data manipulation:
Filter and process data to highlight key aspects of the simulation results.
* Report generation:
Create comprehensive reports with images, tables, and analysis summaries.
In essence, SimLab acts as a powerful viewer and analysis tool that makes it easier to understand and communicate complex simulation results. It streamlines the post-processing workflow, making it more efficient for engineers and analysts to interpret their simulation data.
