Kate is a text editor included in the KDE Plasma desktop environment. While KDE Plasma is available for Windows (through the use of a virtual machine or a compatibility layer like Wine),
Kate itself is not a native Windows application.
You can[SQ]t directly download and install Kate on Windows in the same way you would on Linux.
To use an editor similar to Kate on Windows, you[SQ]d need to use a different application, such as :
* Notepad++:
A very popular and powerful free text editor.
* VS Code (Visual Studio Code):
A free and versatile code editor with many extensions.
* Sublime Text:
A powerful, albeit commercial, text editor.
* Atom:
Another free and open-source text editor (development has ended, but it[SQ]s still usable).
If you really want the Kate experience, your best bet is to install a Linux distribution (like Ubuntu or Fedora) on Windows using a virtual machine software like VirtualBox or VMware. Then, Kate will be available within the virtual machine[SQ]s Linux environment.
