Deep Freeze is a software application that allows you to protect a computer[SQ]s hard drive from unauthorized changes. Essentially, it creates a snapshot of the system[SQ]s state, and any changes made to the system – whether by installing software, creating files, or even making registry edits – are automatically undone upon reboot.
The next time the computer restarts, it reverts back to the original "frozen" state. This makes it ideal for :
*
Public computers:
Preventing users from installing malware, altering settings, or making other undesirable changes. Internet cafes, libraries, and schools often use Deep Freeze.
* Testing environments:
Allowing IT professionals to test software and configurations without risking the underlying system. Changes can be safely experimented with and then discarded on reboot.
* Protecting system settings:
Keeping critical system files and configurations safe from accidental or malicious alteration.
Deep Freeze doesn[SQ]t actually encrypt the data, it simply prevents persistent changes from being written to the hard drive. It[SQ]s crucial to understand that any work done while Deep Freeze is active will be lost upon reboot, unless specifically saved to a location outside of the "frozen" area (like a USB drive or network share).
