Google Voice for Android is a discontinued mobile application that provided users with a single US phone number they could use to make and receive calls, send and receive text messages (SMS), and voicemail. It integrated with other Google services and offered features like :
*
Unified communications:
Manage calls, texts, and voicemail from a single interface.
* Call forwarding:
Forward calls to multiple devices (including your cell phone, landline, or other Google Voice numbers).
* Voicemail transcription:
Get written transcripts of your voicemail messages.
* International calls:
Make calls at a low cost to international numbers.
* Google Chat integration:
Integrate with Google Chat for messaging and voice calls.
Important Note:
The standalone Google Voice app for Android (and iOS) is no longer available for download and use by new users. Existing users can still use the app for a time, but Google plans to fully integrate its functionality into other Google services and apps, like Google Messages. Therefore, the future of Google Voice[SQ]s independent existence on Android is uncertain. Features are gradually being absorbed into other Google products.
